Cooking steak might seem intimidating, but in my opinion it’s one of the easiest dinners I make. Even if you cook your steak well done, you’re still under 15 minutes of cook time!

All you need for this savory steak is butter, minced garlic, and the steak of your choice. No 15 ingredient marinade, no expensive rubs.

The simple flavor of this steak pairs well with a ton of sides. If you’re looking to step up your dinner, these easy oven roasted potatoes are the perfect fit. Dice, season, and throw these in the oven. In 45 minutes you’ve got crispy seasoned potatoes to go with your steak.

Don’t have 45 minutes? No problem. Pair your pan seared garlic butter steak with instant mashed potatoes and 5 minute microwave steamed broccoli and you have a steakhouse dinner faster than you can eat an overpriced appetizer!

On the fence about instant potatoes? I used to be too! Believe me, try these once and you’ll have a hard time going back to putting so much time and effort into traditional mashed potatoes for the same result. Simply get 2 cups of water boiling, remove from heat, and stir these in. SO fast, SO easy, and SO good!

We could argue all day about the right way to cook a steak. You’ve got your die hard medium rare fans and people that won’t touch anything less than well done. However you choose, this pan seared garlic butter steak will taste just as good.

Garlic Butter Steak

  • Prep time: 3 minutes
  • Cook time: 10 minutes
  • Total time: 15 minutes

Simple, delicious steak in minutes. Everyday ingredients make this the perfect weeknight, or date night, dinner!

Ingredients

  • 2 steaks of choice
  • 3 tbsp salted butter
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • salt and pepper

Instructions

  • 1)
    1. If possible, sprinkle salt over both sides of steak and let marinate in the fridge for at least 6 hours before cooking. This will tenderize the steak.
    2. Melt butter in a microwave safe bowl.
    3. Mince garlic cloves and add to melted butter. Stir until combined.
    4. Turn burner to medium heat and let it reach temperature. Once heated, pour in butter and garlic. If pan is correctly heated, it should bubble.
    5. Add steak(s) to pan. Let sear for 3-4 minutes without disturbing it. Once flipped, continue cooking until it’s reached your desired temperature according to the chart above. This should be 3-8 more minutes.
    6. Remove from skillet and serve with microwave steamed broccoli, oven roasted potatoes, or any sides of your choice!
